Free Spyware
Although the term "free spyware" suggests you do not have to pay anything for it, it does by no stretch of the imagination mean that there are no costs involved.
Before we get carried away on what could potentially be quite a silly discussion, we need to define the term "free spyware" and determine the number of ways it could be construed.
There are 2 different ways this could be interpreted:
1: Obtaining it
2: Using it
Well, firstly, obtaining free spyware would have to be the easiest task in the world for anyone who knows how to use a computer. I am also sure that even someone who had no idea how to use a computer could obtain free spyware.
One simply has to surf the net for an hour or 2, downloading files, watching videos and filling out forms requesting details etc etc all without using any PC protection. In other words, simply using the internet for any period of time exposes the PC to infection by any number of so called free spyware.
This is what was meant in the opening paragraph in the mention of there being a certain cost involved when it comes to free spyware. The cost being the compromising of your PC's security and of the valuable information and data stored on the PC.
By now you probably realize why this is a potentially silly discussion. Nobody wants free spyware, let alone pay for it.
So, this leaves the other reason for obtaining free spyware... using it.
There is no good and noble use for it so we have to assume that when someone obtains free spyware, they intend to use it for illegal and harmful purposes.
The cost, referred to earlier, in this case is the risk of being caught, fined, sent to jail and being discredited, humiliated and labeled a criminal.
